Windows 10: Windows 11: Laptop restarting when charger is plugged in

If I try to charge my laptop while I'm working, as soon as I plug the charger in it begins restarting and does not stop at all. I've tried shutting my laptop down and then charging and it works it charges the battery but I cant work and charge my laptop at the same time. As soon as i boot my laptop if the charger is plugged in, the laptop starts restarting. I bought a new charger because I thought that the adapter was faulty or something, the first time I plugged the new charger in it worked but the second time I had the same exact problem. While the laptop is restarting, the interface says so

My laptop restarts itself without any notice when I have the charger plugged in. However, it works fine when I only use the battery/with charger in safe mode/with charger but running games that have high power usage.

What I've tried,

replace system disk with new SSD,

reinstall windows,

plug the charger into different wall sockets,

update battery driver,

use new power plan,

and none of them works.

I have an Acer Aspire 3 too, though mine has now upgraded to Windows 11.

Many would give their eye teeth to be able to turn off that beep. *Biggrin

This seems to be a uniquely Acer thing. All Acer laptops seem to make that beep when the power is connected/disconnected, and there is no obvious setting in Windows or the bios to turn this on or off. Following the trail of those trying to turn it off suggests this is where you need to look:

In your case of course you need to make sure the Realtek HD Audio Manager is fully enabled rather than muted.

I've tried it on my Acer Aspire and can confirm that muting the Realtek HD Audio Manager (or Universal Service as it appears in W11) does indeed turn of that beep, quite independently of all other system sounds or audio output. Settings has a quite different layout in Windows 11, but still has all the same settings as Windows 10. This is what I see in W11's Settings.

Hi,

So for some reason my laptop has started putting itself into hibernation every couple of minutes or so, but only when it's plugged into the charger. I think it's an issue with the battery, as it started last night and the battery also now only shows 0%. But
any ideas as to why it's only happening when the charger is plugged in?

I'm using a toshiba pro l-50A, about 3 years old.
