Windows 10: Windows 11 - LifeCam Studio - Black and White video

Hello!This is a follow-up to this thread which found the solution using Skype LifeCam Studio Only Displaying Black and White Video - Microsoft Community.Big kudos to the original poster!I've found a different but similar solution to this for Windows 11.If you go to "Settings" --> "Bluetooth & Devices" then you should find your cameras under the section "Connected cameras".Click on the "Microsoft LifeCam StudioTM" camera and here you can adjust the "Saturation" as well.Have a great day!

LifeCam Studio Only Displaying Black and White Video

I have a LifeCam Studio attached to a Windows 10 laptop. Until yesterday, it was displaying video just fine. When connecting up to a Teams meeting, it started to display only in black and white. I have tried different USB ports, tried it on another computer, and it still displays in black and white in all programs (Teams, Zoom, Camera app). It does have moments where it does display in color on start up, but quickly switches to black and white. Another camera attached to the laptop correctly displays in color.

I found this previous post that discussed a firmware update, but software downloads are no longer available.

I appreciate any insight or input into this issue.

LifeCam Studio Only Displaying Black and White Video

Alright... this is a weird one. Unfortunately, support was only able to provide the first level troubleshooting that I already had done. So I kept chipping away on my own. I had not tried Skype on any of my devices (only tried Teams and Zoom), so I launched Skype - which I never use due to using Teams. Same issue, black and white display. I poked around some more and found Camera Settings. Then under Properties --> Video Proc Amp, I clicked on "Default" and noticed the sliders moved and the color was restored. Somehow the Saturation was set all the way to 0, which turned the image to black and white. How this changed and changed on all THREE of the computers I tested the LifeCam on but didn't affect any other cameras I doubt I will ever know.

So in summary... if your LifeCam or other camera is displaying in black and white, try this:

• Launch Skype
  
• Options --> Video Device
  
• Select the camera in the drop-down
  
• Click Camera Settings
  
• On the Video Proc Amp tab, click Default
  

This may work in other third-party camera apps that allow you to modify the Video Proc Amp settings.

Hope this helps someone in the future. It was very frustrating, to say the least.
