  1. Windows 11 losing sight of third party added keyboard SBL Hebrew SIL when restarting

We just bought a new Windows 11 machine Surface Pro. For my wife's PhD we need to use an ancient Hebrew keyboard - this is a partly different language to the standard Microsoft Hebrew keyboard provided so we have added the well know reputable third party ancient Hebrew keyboard provided by SBL. This loads fine and the keyboard appears in the language bar and can be used in Word 2021 - all good. However, when we shut down and restart the machine it disappears from the language bar and hence cannot be used. The only workaround seems to be every time to uninstall the SBL keyboard its noteworth

    :)

SBL Hebrew keyboard (Tiro) under Windows 11

    Hi, SteveHewittSH

    Welcome to the MicroSoft Community.

For the problem that you can’t reinstall SBL Hebrew keyboard I think you can try the following steps to resolve:

    1. First of all, I would like to confirm that the language you are using is the Hebrew language pack provided in the settings or the language pack provided by a third party software? Is there a message saying that you can't reinstall? If you are using the language pack provided in the settings, we recommend that you follow the steps below to uninstall the language pack completely:

    • Keyboard Windows key + R to get the Run window.
    • Enter the command lpksetup.exe.
    • Get the Language Pack Installer, Uninstaller tool.
    • Select Uninstall Show languages Go to the list of language packs.
    • Check if there is a language pack you need to uninstall, if so, click the check mark in the box in front of it.
    • If there is, please click the check mark in the box in front of it, and then click Next to uninstall it.
Note that if the language you want to uninstall is the system language, you need to change the default language.

If the above operation fails to remove the language packs successfully, you can refer to the following steps:

    • Start menu, type Powershell in the search box.
    • Right click on powershell and run Powershell as administrator.
    • Open Windows PowerShell
    • Type Get-WinUserLanguageList to get the list of languages.
Here you need to note down the languageTag you want to remove.

Execute the following commands in turn, replacing the langTag in quotes in the third line with the languageTag tag you wrote down previously

    2. Check for system updates. Make sure your Windows 11 installer and patch packages are up-to-date, as there are update issues that can cause compatibility problems.

    3. Driver updates. Please check your computer's keyboard drivers. Outdated and incompatible drivers can cause input problems. We suggest you go to the hardware website to download the latest driver and reinstall it.

    4. If the above actions do not solve your problem, we recommend that you add a new account to see if the problem of adding language packs still exists.

If there is anything not clear or I can't understand your problem, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
