Windows 10: Windows 11 Media Creation Tool error leading to USB drive problem....

Hi guysSo, I basically downloaded the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool from the Windows 11 download site. I ran it and selected an 8GB USB stick 2.0 as the device that should be made into a bootable USB flash drive. It fully downloaded Windows 11 and then started creating... and then the tool worked until like 90%. Suddenly, the following error appeared: "There was a problem running this tool. We're not sure what happened, but we are unable to run this tool on your PC. If you continue experiencing problems, reference the error code when contacting customer support. 0x80070022 - 0xA001B".After

Windows 11 Media Creation Tool error leading to USB drive not being recognized anymore

Hi guys

So, I basically downloaded the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool from the Windows 11 download site. I ran it and selected an 8GB USB stick (2.0) as the device that should be made into a bootable USB flash drive. It fully downloaded Windows 11 and then started creating... and then the tool worked until like 40%. Suddenly, the following error appeared: "There was a problem running this tool. We're not sure what happened, but we are unable to run this tool on your PC. If you continue experiencing problems, reference the error code when contacting customer support. 0x80042405 - 0xa001a".

After that happened I could not access my USB drive anymore as an USB drive. It acts like a DVD drive. I can't format it. I can't use the automatic "Solve problems" stuff in explorer. I tried uninstalling the USB drivers and restarting and basically every suggestion. I don't see the drive in EaseUS Partition Master or AOMEI Partition Assistant, which is another problem because those tools could help me if I could see the USB drive there. My friend doesn't even see the USB drive on her MacOS. (I'm using Windows 10).

In the screenshots, you can see the three places in the OS where the USB is still "visible". I can see the USB drive in the "disk part"-tool from Windows. I can select it there, but I can't use the "Clean" command or anything. So, because the drive is visible I think it is not broken. It reacts to some commands (like eject). The Media Creation Tool did something to the USB drive (made it into an AutoRUN thing) and now I can't do anything with it.

 

Window 10 Media Creation Tool errors with 0x80070456 0xA0019

I am trying to use the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB flash drive but am getting an error message. It seems download the files successfully but fails part way through transferring the files to the USB drive.

The error message code I get is "Something went wrong ... 0x80070456 - 0xA0019"

The steps I take are

1. Run the program
   
2. Accept the license conditions
   
3. Choose "Create installation media for another PC"
   
4. Language "English (United States)", Edition "Windows 10", Architecture "64-bit (x64)"
   
5. Choose "USB flash drive"
   
6. Choose the USB flash drive from the list
   

I am running Windows 10 Professional. The USB drive is 64Gb.

 

Headache with Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and 0x80042405 - 0xA001A related error.

recently, I have searched about this error regarding the Media Creation Tool and USB pen drive creation but none of the
solutions found were good for me: reformatting USB drive to FAT32, start the media tool from the USB drive itself, disable USB Selective Suspend via Power Options, create am ISO image and use Rufus, and so on. My Microsoft Surface
didn't want to create a bootable USB: I've spend a week and will have tried 20 times at least. To my surprise, my old HP laptop did it at first time instead. Why ????? (At now I don't know).

My first step was to examine the setupact.log file that the Media Creation Tool has created: the error was from the CDIpActionLayoutUsb:repareUsbMedia which by the way did not appear in the other file (???). The
logic told me that the problem was in the pen drive format: partition, disk, volume ? In short, the Format command and the Disk Management tool didn't seem to work and after much test the solution was the DiskPart Windows tool. Here is how to insert it into
the procedure:

• Attach a formatted USB pen to the PC;
• Start the Media Creation Tool, do the all steps until the download of the files starts (You must select first the USB pen disk);
• And now the magic DiskPart tool:
  • start it;
  • By the LIST VOLUME command identifies the volume of the USB pen and remember the attached number;
  • Select it by the SELECT VOLUME <number>
    ;
  • Now use the command CLEAN
  • Enjoy the end;

I don't know why, by this last command permits the Media Creation Tool to complete and create the bootable USB pen correctly. I've tried the procedure 3 times and all works well.

I hope this helps all users that has an headache with the Media Creation Tool.
