Windows 10: Windows 11 Microphone Permission Issues

I recently got windows 11 on my computer and my microphone disconnect whenever I use a communication app discord and try to play an online game with team chat. I have tried everything other post have recommended reconnecting, uninstalling drives, allowing it to connect to an app. The only thing I can think is wrong is the computer gets confused about which app to allow at the same time. I never had any of these problems on Windows 10.

Under the category: settings/Privacy & security/microphone, it is possible to turn on/off some apps permission to access the microphone. However several apps are lumped together into the last category of the list called "Let desktop apps access your microphone". This generates problems since steam, discord, zoom, e.t.c are all in this category which basically removes the users abillity to use mic on discord but not steam. This lack of flexibillity could easily be solved if microsoft would make individual on/off-switch for all desktop apps that wish to access the microphone in windows 11.

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?

Camera and Microphone Privacy

Hi Moustafa,

This issue occurs due to permission issue, driver issue, license for an app is out of sync with the license installed on the computer or if the app is not updated. To give permission to Camera and Microphone app, you may follow
these steps:

• Go to Settings.
• Select Privacy.
• Look for Camera, make sure that “Let apps use my camera” is turned On. You may choose the apps that can use your camera as well.
• Go back to Privacy and select Microphone, make sure that “Let apps use my microphone” is turned On. You may choose the apps that can use your microphone as well.
