Windows 10: Windows 11: My user folders are split between \users\<myname> and "\users\user"!

Hi,After spending endless hours transferring my files and applications from two computers to a new one, I now discovered that my generic user folders "Documents", "AppData" etc. were sometimes stored under my own user folder and sometimes under the user "User". Please note that before transferring my files I deleted the account "User" from the computer. To make things worse, some of the applications that I installed store app data under "User" and others under my own name...

are C:\Users\myname\OneDrive\Documents and C:\Users\myname\Documents the same location?

are C:\Users\myname\OneDrive\Documents and C:\Users\myname\Documents the same?

why or why not? New Windows 11 PC and I'm completely confused by OneDrive ..

can't find anything I save a second time .. I think i'm creating two copies of everything.

can I just delete it (OneDrive) and start over never using it again?

IF SO , do I create then a c:\Users\myname\Documents folder ?

 

Can there be two users in the Users folder?

Moving to a new device with Windows 11 from the old Windows 10. Windows 11 automatically sets up

C:\Users\xxxxx but my old device had C:\Users\MyName Can I add a second user folder name? In other words, can I have both C:\xxxxx and C:\Users\MyName on the WIndows 11 computer? I would want this because Picasa (an unsupported Google photos program) needs to be under C:\Users\MyName the same as it was on the old computer to be migrated to the new computer. Can you tell me if Windows 11 will be otherwise happy with two names under Users? Also, if you know anything about Picasa to the new computer that would be helpful. Thank you.

 

Duplicate User folder.

I moved my default Pictures, Documents, Music folders to a new Data partition (D).

My Users/myName folder remained on the C partition.

Everything was fine for 2 years.

For some reason this myName folder is now duplicated on the D partition (D\myName)

I have now a default documents folder in

• D\Documents
• D\myName\Documents
• Onedrive\Documents
• C\Users\myName\Documents

The same with the other system folders.

I can not change the location of the folders in the 2 duplicate user folders.

Rightclicking in properties, there is no location option.

Only the folders in OneDrive and the D partition have this option.

Any ideas?
