  3. Nokia 500 EAP-MSCHAPv2 support?

So apparently I am trying to connect to a WLAN network (Eduroam) that needs EAP-MSCHAPv2 protocol but apparently I can't see it in EAP protocols list.

So is there really no EAP-MSCHAPv2 support in Nokia 500?

And is EAP-MSCHAPv2 protcol something that can be fixed within a software or is it a hardware issue? Will it be added to Symbian Belle update which every Nokia 500 owner is so desperately waiting for?

It's a pity, since even older models (S60v3) supported EAP-MSCHAPv2 protocol and as far as I know, all other Symbian Anna phones support it.

    Nokia 5800 - mschapv2 Support?

Your phone does support EAP-MSCHAPv2 authentication method for WPA/WPA2 secured WLAN connections. However, since MSCHAPv2 originates from PPP / dial-up connection era it has some limitations (by design of the authentication mechanims) preventing it's usage
as a "standalone" EAP authentication method for WPA/WPA2 security.

In practise this means that from WLAN perspective (EAP-)MSCHAPv2 authentication method can only be used together with another "tunneling" type of EAP method like e.g. EAP-PEAP, EAP-TTLS or EAP-FAST.

One of the most common WPA/WPA2 EAP authentication setups involving EAP-MSCHAPv2 is probably a "EAP-PEAPv0 with EAP-MSCHAPv2". Meaning that during the authentication client and authentication server will first set up a PEAP (SSL/TLS) tunnel and this secure
tunnel will help protecting less secure (plaintext) MSCHAPv2 authentication mechanism.

In practise first you need to know which (outer) tunneling EAP authentication method your network requires to be used in conjunction with EAP-MSCHAPv2 authentication. Then you need to create an Internet Access Point with approriate WLAN security mode and
    EAP settings to your phone.

On your phone's Internet Access Point parameters (Settings -> Connectivity -> Destinations -> ...) you need to first create/edit an Access Point with WLAN security mode WPA/WPA2 or 802.1x and under WLAN security settings select EAP (instead of Pre-shared
key). Then go to EAP plugin settings and enable appropriate outer EAP type (e.g. EAP-PEAP).

On EAP-PEAP settings page you need to define at least the Authority certificate that matches with your WLAN networks authentication server certificate. Depending on how your WLAN authentication server infrastructure has been set up you might also have to
input appropriate username / realm information for PEAP, unless you have also personal client certificate supported by your WLAN network installed on the phone from where PEAP identity can be automatically obtained.

Go right on the rocker from "EAP-PEAP settings" page in order to choose the inner authentication method for PEAP tunnel. Here you can enable EAP-MSCHAPv2 and configure your username and password for the actual MSCHAPv2 user authentication happening inside
    the PEAP tunnel.

You can choose the tunneled inner EAP authentication method to be (EAP-)MSCHAPv2 similarly for EAP-TTLS and EAP-FAST methods depending on what is your exact definition of "mschapv2".
