Windows 10: Windows 11 - "New" button and "Back" at top left of explorer won`t work when maximised or...

I have been able to replicate this on my machine though I wasn`t able to just the day before. However the issue seems to get worse the close to the edge of the screen it goes.And because her laptop screen is a 16:10 whereas her monitor is 16:9 she has some black bars on the sides of her screen. It seems that visually windows knows that these are the edges of her screen but the button only for "new" in the top left of explorer seem to stretch into where the black bars are.^We Believed this to be true until I had the same issue in extended view on a 16:9 display. Explorer 11 - will not open in full page!

I found a rather strange nine-step solution that I tried out and it worked.

The procedure is in Don Varnau's 18th Nov 2017 post in
How to change initial size of new window automatically [IE11] {Don Varnau's procedure} - MSA
and here it is broken down into individual steps -

1 Close all IE windows before you start

2 Open IE11 and go to a webpage that has a hyperlink to another webpage in it because you'll need it for step #5

3 Drag the window edges to fill the display without using the maximise button or any WinKey+[Left/Right/Up/Down]Arrow combinations
4 Check that the 'Maximise' button still appears in the top-right corner

and has not tripped into being the 'Restore down' icon

. If it has tripped, go back to step #3.

5 On a hyperlink on the webpage, right-click & select 'Open in a new window'.

6 Drag the window edges of the new window to fill the display without using the maximise button or any WinKey+[Left/Right/Up/Down]Arrow combinations
7 Check that the 'Maximise' button still appears in the top-right corner

and has not tripped into being the 'Restore down' icon

. If it has tripped, go back to step #6.

8 Close the first IE window by clicking on the X in the top-right corner of the IE window

9 Close the second IE window by clicking on the X in the top-right corner of the IE window

IE should now always open in this max state.

I only bothered trying this solution because Don Varnau had posted it.
- Don Varnau has a track record of highly competent contributions to forums.
- His endorsement persuaded me that it was not a ridiculous idea.

Win 10 all of a sudden open programs won`t minimise or maximise

Hi

I haven`t made any changes ..so probably a Windows update...previously with any running programs I could left click the icon in the taskbar and it would maximise and minimise...not now...also I can`t right click on desktop?? I also notice when I click on start I have these 3 `new` icons on top left of desktop...exted..pinned tiles..all apps...I never saw this before and it`s not on any of my other Win 10 pc`s (none of which have the issues described) Any suggestions gratefully received.
