Windows 10: Windows 11 New Explorer - How To Disable Age Groupings Today, Last Week, Etc.

What happened in Explorer for Windows 11 to the way to lose the age grouping sortings today, last week, earlier this year, etc. in search results in Windows Explorer? There are a number of solutions to this problem for Windows 10, but it seems like the new streamlined options for Windows 11 have removed all ability to delete this.

How do you Disable Explorer's "Today", "Yesterday", and "Last Week" Groups

I like my Downloads displayed as a straight alphabetical list, and not broken down by today, yesterday, and last week. When I go to Downloads this can be done by clicking "view" then "group by" and then "none." Windows, however, does not save that setting
and the next time you go to Downloads you are forced to go through those steps again. How can this be avoided? Until recently this was not a problem.

 

Disable the file display groups in file explorer

I want to disable file explorer from sorting the files in groups. It keeps putting the files in to groupings and telling me how many files are in this groups. For example Q-Z (2). Really. I do not like this. It is like my email trying to sort by today,
earlier in the week, and so on. I want to disable this feature.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
