Windows 10: Windows 11 Not Displaying Thumbnails for PNG images only - JPGs and others display OK

Since I upgraded to Windows 11 on my Dell Precision laptop, File Explorer does not display image thumbnails for portable network graphic .png images only. Thumbnails for all other image types .jpg, .tif, .svg, et al display fine. I've searched for a resolution but the primary answer I find is to make sure "Always show icons and never thumbnails" is unchecked. It is unchecked. In addition, all my display drivers are up to date.Would appreciate it if anyone has a solution because I do web consulting and use many .png images. It's a pain not to be able to quickly view them when choosing from mu

Explorer displays .jpg thumbnails only, not .JPG

• Were there any changes to your computer prior to the issue?

I updated Windows to 1709

• Can you send us the screenshot of the File Explorer showing your .jpg files?

Here it is (just to be more accurate, thumbnails of the JPG appear 1 sec then disappear):

Yes

• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Tried all the things related to explorer itself (thumbnails instead of icons etc)

I also wanted to delete the thumbnails cache but, even in safe mode, I did not succeed...

PS : I tried something strange. I have 2 .jpg that are correctly displayed as thumbnails in Explorer.

I renamed one of them into .JPG. When Windows saves the files, it is automatically renamed into .jpg but is not displayed as a thumbnail! Then, I renamed it back to .jpg and hop! It comes back as a thumbnail!!!

Suddenly, vertical JPG images show thumbnail images squeezed into horizontal thumbnail JPGs. RAW files are not affected and show vertical thumbnails as expected.

I do have Sagethumbs installed, so that I can see JPG thumbnail images of PSD and TIFF files. No problems with thumbnail images from PSD and TIFF files.

I uninstalled Sagethumbs and the problem persisted. So I don;'t think Sagethumbs is the problem.

I have cleared the (File Explorer?) thumbnail cache and the Sagethumbs thumbnail cache and the problem persists.

The problem occurs only in one image folder.

Any ideas?
