  2. Windows 11 Not Going to Sleep

Using Windows 11 Pro. Unit is not going to sleep, despite trying variations on power options. Have followed all the steps here: Fix Windows 11 Sleep Mode Not Working . Also, this article refers to a Power Troubleshooter...which doesn't exist on my version of Windows. On the other hand, if I reset power options to the default, the unit does go to sleep. Making any changes, however, and it doesn't go to sleep anymore. This is

  3. Windows 11 does not go to sleep

My Windows 11 desktop does not turn off the screen after the specified time. It also does not go into sleep mode after the specified time. I have tried all the steps suggested in this thread and still not good. I do not have any joy stick or anything like that attached. It used to work that a few months ago it quit. The only thing that happened was routine Windows updates.

Windows 11 - Going into "Sleep" temporarily while user still active on machine

    Hello Kuro Yama1,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

The issue your friend is experiencing with their Lenovo laptop—randomly going to a black screen and then returning to the lock screen without fully entering sleep mode—can be quite perplexing. You've already conducted some thorough troubleshooting steps. Here's a summary and some additional suggestions:

    1. Event Viewer Analysis:
      • The Event Viewer indicates a system session transition (from 26 to 27) for the reason "SleepButton".
      • This happening every hour suggests a scheduled or systemic issue.
    2. Power Settings Confirmation:
      • You've confirmed that "Put the computer to sleep" is set to "Never".
      • The display is set not to turn off.
      • Fast startup is disabled.
      • The sleep button is set to do nothing.
    3. System Checks:
      • You've run a DISM and SFC scan, which can help with system file integrity.
    4. Graphics Driver Update:
      • The graphics drivers were updated via GeForce Experience, though a clean install wasn't possible at the moment.
Given these steps, here are some additional suggestions to consider:

    1. Check for Scheduled Tasks:
      • Investigate the Windows Task Scheduler to see if there's a task scheduled to run every hour that might be causing this behavior.
    2. Inspect Advanced Power Settings:
      • Go into the advanced power settings and ensure that all settings related to sleep, hibernation, and display turn off are set appropriately.
    3. Update BIOS/Firmware:
      • Sometimes, a BIOS or firmware update can resolve such issues, especially if they're related to power management.
    4. Check for Physical Issues:
      • Although less likely, it's worth checking if the sleep button or any other physical button is stuck or malfunctioning.
    5. Monitor External Influences:
      • If the laptop is connected to external devices, such as a docking station or external monitor, try disconnecting them to see if the issue persists.
    6. Review System Logs in Detail:
      • Take a closer look at the System logs in Event Viewer around the time the issue occurs for any clues.
    7. Perform a Clean Boot:
      • Try performing a clean boot to see if any background services or applications are causing the issue.
    8. Check for Malware:
      • Run a thorough malware scan, as certain malware can cause strange system behaviors.
    9. Consult Lenovo Support:
      • If the issue persists, reaching out to Lenovo support or visiting a service center might be necessary, as they could provide more specific guidance based on the laptop model.
    10. Consider System Restore:
    • If the issue started recently, a system restore to a point before the problem began might resolve it.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

    Best wishes
