  1. Windows 11 not recognising external displays

I recently purchased a Surface Laptop 4 to replace my old Surface Pro 2017. In my home office I run a Surface Dock connected to two Mi 34"Curved Gaming Monitors. They connect to the dock via MD -> DP cables.I have never had a problem running the two displays via the dock with my Surface Pro running Windows 10.When I was running Windows 10 on my Surface Laptop 4, again, no issues. As soon as I have updated to Windows 11, my Surface Laptop 4 is unable to recognise the external displays. When I check in "Device Manager", it states the following errors:Monitor 1Device settings for DISPLAY\M

    :)

    Projecting to an external display

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Windows 10.

I understand that you are unable to use external display with windows 10.

This usually occurs if the video driver was not installed properly or not configured correctly.so I would suggest you to reinstall the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and see if it helps:

    Uninstall Display Adapter drivers

I suggest you to uninstall the display drivers and reinstall them in compatibility mode.

To uninstall the driver, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + R
    • Type devmgmt.msc
    • Right click on the driver you want to uninstall
    • Click on Uninstall
    • Restart the system
After the computer restarts, install the driver in compatibility mode.

    • Select the setup file
    • Right click on it and click on
      properties
    • Click on Compatibility tab
    • Select the operating system
    • Click Ok.
Hope it helps, do get back to us if you need further assistance with Windows.

    External hard drive not recognised

Worked out what the problem was with my external drive notbeing recognised. I looked under Device Manager > USB Controllers and there itwas listed with an exclamation mark with the error saying that "the driverfor this device is in memory" or words to that effect. I right clicked thecorresponding Mass Storage device and uninstalled it and then unplugged theexternal drive. I rebooted my desktop and plugged the external drive in againand it reinstalled its driver again and I am now able to use the external driveagain. Projecting to an external display

    Hi,

When the computer restarts the driver re-installs its self. and also how would I go about going into compatability mode. Would this be through internet explorer?

Any insite on this would be a great help.

    Best Regards,

    Shaun Johnson
