    Windows 11 not recognizing an older Win 10 HDD secondary drive. Any suggestions?


    Good evening.Last month, I purchased a new desktop system Dell Inspiron 3910... though the box itself has Vostro stamped on it. Anyway, I wanted to upgrade a few things and so I cloned the SDD C: drive and swapped it out with no issue, and added another 16GB of RAM, again with no problem. However, when I brought over a 1TB HDD that I had as my D: drive in my old Windows 10 machine, I it not visible in Windows 11.What's interesting is that I took the drive out and plugged it into a HDD "caddy" that is plugged into a USB port on the computer. When connected that way, my new Win 11 computer

    Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

    Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

    Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

    Using Windows 10 HDD on a Windows 11 pc.

    After installing a Windows 10 hdd on a secondary drive in my new Windows 11 pc, can I switch to the win 10 hdd and run programs on it? Is that possible? If not, is there any way I can use the Win 10 programs on the Win 11 pc without installing them on the main hard drive.
