    Windows 11 not remembering desktop settings of folders prior to sign off and/or restart


    Hello,When restarting, or signing off and back on, of Windows 11, the desktop restarts blank, except for my icons. None of the folders that were opened before the restart/sign-in will appear in the position that I left them before the restart. They are not there at all. I have checked EVERY setting and it will still not work. Yet it worked in Windows 10. Folder Options is set to Restore Previous folder windows at logonSettings - System - Display - Multiple Displays - Remember Windows location is checkedI have even gone into the registry and made sure Current User/Control Panel/Desktop -

    Remembering Window Position

    I have Windows 11 and cannot save window position and size after shutdown. It will remember when it's opened/closed during the day without shutdown. After re-starting it will open to a fixed prior position, but not the last one prior to shutdown. I have tried all recommended actions on line, tweaking the bagMRU registry setting, "restore previous folder windows at logon" from Folder Options, etc., nothing seems to work. Anyone have suggestions on how to do this so I don't have to adjust window position after startup? Thanks for all suggestions. |

    Background setting in Windows 11 automatically resetting after a restart?

    I apologize for the confusion Rohith. if your Desktop background setting changes from slideshow to picture mode after every restart for Windows 11,

    I suggest to please try the below steps:

    Method 1: Check if the Theme sync setting is enabled

    1.Press Windows + I to open Settings

    2. Navigate to Accounts and click it.

    3. Click on Windows backup and toggle on the slider in front of Remember my preferences.

    4. Restart your PC then check.

    Method 2: Check-in Clean Boot

    it is possible that a third-party application causing the issue. To check please perform a Clean boot and if the issue is not happening there then it's a sign that a third-party application causing it.
