Windows 10: Windows 11 Not Seeing External USB Enclosure Properly

I have an ASUS ROG STRIX Arion nvme external drive that I have a 1tb Sabernt drive installed. I have been I used this drive to backup my documents, downloads,... and other misc files before performing a clean install of Windows 11. The drive was formated on a Windows 10 machine, the same machine the files were pulled from. When plugging the drive in, it shows in disk managment in Windows 11, but says it need to be initialzed, but on Windows 10 laptop, it shows up just fine. I cannot lose this data, this is my traveling backup if needed. Is it some weird formatting issues between Windows 10 and

External enclosure

Need some suggestions on an external enclosure. Getting it for my dad, so I need something reliable that is not going to break or have some part of it stop working after a while.

Been looking at this Thermaltake unit. Would like to keep it no more then ~$40. Would go with some of the Rosewill enclosures, but from reading the reviews the reliability shows in the price.

Need something with at least eSATA as he doesn't have a computer with USB 3.0 at all.

We understand that the HDD enclosure is not getting detected in Asus Vivo book, we will look into this for you. However, it would be great if you can help us with the information requested below:

• Are you able to connect any other device to the laptop?
  
• Do you see any Unknown Device in Device Manager?
  

As you have mentioned that you are have already tried updating the drivers and didn’t find the HDD enclosure showing in Device Manager, follow the steps mentioned below and check if that helps:



Method 1: Check Unknown devices



We can check if the HDD enclosure shows as an Unknown device. If it shows as an Unknown device, we can try to update the drivers.

1. Press Windows key + X, and select
   Device Manager.
   
2. In Device Manager window, check if there is a section of
   Unknown device.
   
3. If you see Unknown device, right click on it and select
   Update Device.
   
4. If prompted, restart the computer.
   

Method 2:



I suggest you to follow the steps from the article
Error: “USB Device not recognized” when you try to access a USB external hard drive expect Method 2 and see if that makes any difference.



You may also check if there is Intel Rapid Storage driver available in the computer manufacturer’s website. If any, I suggest you to install it and check.

[WTB]   P4 skt 478 with HT, External HDD enclosure

As the title suggest im looking for a cheap P4 with HT, would like a northwood core but a prescott would be fine. Also looking for an external 3.5" HDD enclosure with ethernet/USB *Toast :toast:
