Windows 10: Windows 11 Notepad App Find or Replace dialogue no longer moveable

The pop-up dialogue for Find and Find & Replace under Windows 10 was an independent window with a header bar that could be clicked on and moved around over the text file contents to see what was beneath it.Now, under Windows 11, it does not have a header and cannot be moved.Does anyone else miss the moving functionality?

Replace Notepad in Windows 10 1909 with Dark Notepad

I don't find anything from Dark Notepad authors on how to set it as Default. So I would contact them through the link which appear at the bottom of their Download page in MS Store app, which every app maker must provide to support their app. Let them know
you're airing this in Microsoft Community forums where we are waiting to hear how they suggest to do this.

There is another Notepad++ app here that gives some steps which it provides to replace the default in it's Settings:

If your Dark Notepad app doesn't have similar then toward the end of that tutorial there is a registry edit to replace the Notepad default you can try.

Notepad consuming cpu 40%

Your screenshot of Task Manager and the notepad.exe properties shows the same size and creation date as in @dalchina's earlier screenshot. So it looks like it is the real notepad that's running.

But - it isn't running the way it should. In your Task Manager there should be a > to the left of notepad, and clicking on it should open up a list of the Notepad instances that are running, along with the name of the document that's open (or 'Untitled - Notepad' if none).

Yours doesn't show that (compare it with dalchina's screenshot). Notepad is running - yes, but not the way it's supposed to. It appears to be in the list of background processes, not in the list of Apps where it should be. Could something be trying to run it as a service? Perhaps some malware set this up, but failed to replace the genuine notepad.exe with its counterfeit one?

As a first step I'd look at the Startup tab in Task Manager for clues.

Click your Start Button, then just type notepad

Does Notepad not show up in the resulting list?

If not, open the Settings App, then go to Apps and click 'Manage Optional Features'

Click the 'Add a Feature' button, is Notepad in the list of features that can be added?

If so, add Notepad back to Windows

Then, right click any txt file and choose Properties, on the resulting dialog, click 'Change'and form there, you should be able to set Notepad as the default application for text files . . .
