Windows 10: Windows 11 on start up goes to preparing Windows, then displays wrong desktop, no task bar...

My problem started a couple of days ago. Unable to install an update KB5016629 so getting, your computer is missing update message.Now on start up after pin number I get "preparing Windows" and then loads unfamiliar desktop with limited icons, no taskbar or even Windows start/power button.Used restore point to go back and everything seemed OK but I could still not install the missing update, even after downloading from the Microsoft library.Computer worked normally with usual desktop until being switched off for the night, on startup next day back to preparing Windows and onto the wrong desk

Windows 10 Defender - How to make it default to task bar?

Using Windows 10 and currently I am using Defender for anti virus. For whatever reason Windows Defender does not show up in the task bar unless I search for the program or right click and scan a file/folder. Is there a way to force Defender to show up in the task bar at start up?

Start Bar not working after update install in Windows 10


Hi, tried as you suggest. It starts and says Checking application registration... and the green progress bar just goes on and on (let it run for over two hours) and never gets to the next step. Any other suggestions?
