  1. Windows 11 Paint - pasting an image and holding down right mouse button does not...

With previous versions of Paint if you copied an image into Paint you could hold down the right mouse button to temporarily hide the pasted image boundary until you let go. If it is not exactly where you want it you could move the image and try the right button hold again. Clicking the left button out of the area would then fix the image. The Windows 11 Paint does the same apart from when holding down the right mouse button the dotted boundary line does not temporarily disappear making it harder to line up images.I fairly frequently have an image that is in two parts eg, I have had to scan

  2. How do I deselect tools and get pointer back in Microsoft Paint verson 11

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

In Microsoft Paint version 11, the arrow pointer that you’re referring to is generally used for selecting and moving objects within the canvas. However, Microsoft Paint does not have a dedicated tool for panning or moving the view of the canvas. Instead, you can use the scrollbars or the mouse wheel to navigate a zoomed-in image. Here’s how you can manage tools and navigate your canvas in Microsoft Paint:

    Step 1: Deselect Tools

In Microsoft Paint, there isn’t a specific deselect button to return to a default pointer, but you can switch to the selection tool to achieve a similar effect.

    1. Select the Selection Tool:
      • Click on the "Select" tool in the toolbar. This will change the cursor to a selection arrow, allowing you to select and move parts of your image.
    Step 2: Navigate the Canvas

To move around a zoomed-in image, you can use the following methods:

    1. Use Scrollbars:
      • When you zoom in on an image, scrollbars will appear on the right and bottom edges of the window. Use these scrollbars to navigate to different parts of the image.
    2. Use the Mouse Wheel:
      • If your mouse has a wheel, you can use it to scroll up and down.
      • To scroll horizontally, hold the Shift key while scrolling with the mouse wheel.
    3. Use Touchpad Gestures (if available):
      • On a laptop, you can use touchpad gestures to scroll. Typically, using two fingers on the touchpad will allow you to scroll vertically and horizontally.
    Step 3: Resetting the Tool

If you’re stuck with a specific tool and can’t switch back to the selection tool:

    1. Restart Microsoft Paint:
      • Close Microsoft Paint and open it again. This should reset the tool selection.
    2. Reopen the Image:
      • If reopening Paint doesn’t help, try reopening the image you were working on. Save your work before closing Paint.
    Additional Tips

    • Save Your Work Frequently: Regularly save your progress to avoid losing changes when you need to restart the application.
    • Use Keyboard Shortcuts:

      Ctrl + A: Select all.

      Ctrl + C: Copy.

      Ctrl + V: Paste.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
