Windows 10: Windows 11 PC not recognizing ethernet conection

Hi. My ethernet cable isnt being recognized. ive reset the network adapters a few times and nothing has changed. In the device manager, the ethernet adapter has a little yellow exclamation mark on it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times. I have even tried to update the drivers but still nothing is fixing it. The ethernet has a green light when it’s plugged in so i’m pretty sure it’s not the cable. Any suggestions please?

Ethernet cable getting recognized only after uninstalling and re-installing the ethernet driver

Hello all. I have a laptop which came with Windows 11 installed. At first there were no issues but for the past week my Ethernet cable does not get recognized by my laptop. Following the steps I have seen here in similar questions, I unplug my cable, uninstall the Ethernet driver from the Device Manager, Scan for hardware changes (driver gets installed automatically), plug the Ethernet cable and everything works fine. Next time I open my computer the Ethernet might or might not get recognized. I have to do this task almost every time I open my computer. Any suggestions?

I worked all this out for a Win7-WinXP direct ethernet computer-to-computer network and later amended it for a Win7-Win7 network. A step-by-step procedure for creating a two-computer Ethernet cable network - MSAForum You can use a crossover cable but do not have to. Doing this in Windows 10 is just about the same as doing it in Windows 7 but some diagrams look different & you have to look around for the equivalent settings in some cases. But I suggest you do yourself a favour and get a router so that it does all the hard work for you. Best of luck, Denis
