My System Info:Windows 11 Home 24H2Motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 TiWiFi Adapter: Intel WiFi 6 AX200I don't really know what happened, but my PC has been having connection issues for the past day now, and none of the solutions I've been able to find online have worked for me. Perhaps this is just a coincidence, but I updated the drivers for my 1660 Ti last night, and it was a bit after doing so that my PC started having connection issues. Naturally, the first thing I did was turn the computer off and on, which didn't work.Since then, I've tried out

  2. Suddenly no internet on Windows 11 PC

    Dear Community,

Today I suddenly lost access to the internet on my PC.

On every other device the internet is working fine (Laptop, Smartphone).

Opening any website on Edge reads ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED. Other Apps do not work either (Teams, Outlook, ...)

Whenever I try to ping or do a nslookup on www.google.com or my own router I receive the error message: General failure.

    However, pinging localhost works fine.

I tried to connect my PC to the internet in different ways: Ethernet, Wifi and even Bluetooth Tethering. None of those methods worked.

Plus, I don't believe this issue is hardware related since:

    • On my router the PC is shown as connected and is not blocked.
    • I am able to transmit files over Bluetooth to my PC with no problems. So, at least Tethering should have worked.
    • My PC is not even a year old and the hardware is modern.
Troubleshooting methods I have already tried:

    • Starting Windows 11 in Safe mode with Networking option enabled
    • Running Troubleshooter for Network adapter, Internet connection and Co.
    • Resetting the Network adapter
    • Deactivating Windows Defender Firewall (I have no other antivirus software installed on my PC)
    • Uninstalling all VPN profiles and VPN apps
    • Windows socket reset: ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, netsh winsock reset
    • TCP/IP suite reset and DNS flush: netsh int ip reset c:\tcp.txt, ipconfig /flushdns
    • Downloading and installing newest Wifi/Ethernet Windows 11 labeled drivers for my mainboard (MSI MAG B550M Mortar WIFI)
    • Uninstalling all network drivers and letting them install automatically by restarting the computer
    • Uninstalling most recent Windows 11 quality updates (uninstalling most recent feature updates did not work anymore)
Windows 11 did an update yesterday evening. However, the internet was working fine today until ~12:00.

I was not doing anything special at the moment.

Are there any log files or methods to find out what could be causing this error?

I would be very grateful for any hints to find out what could be blocking the internet on my PC.

    Kind regards,

    Berat

  3. Suddenly no internet on Windows 11 PC

Hi Berat. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Try these specific fixes for the error first:

    https://www.minitool.com/news/err-network-acces...

    https://thegeekpage.com/chrome-error-138-err_ne...

    https://computersluggish.com/windows-tutorials/...

Next try ALL these fixes for Windows 11 Wifi until one works. Even if you've done a step please do it over exactly as specified and in this order:

    1) Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

If you have the latest network driver then try on it's Driver tab also to Roll Back, or Uninstall and then restart PC to reinstall the driver. Try also all older drivers from Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick list working backwards.

Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters, select Wifi adapter, then Power Management tab, clear the check box to "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save energy." Then on the Advanced tab disable any energy-saving options.

    2) Run the fixit from https://support.microsoft.com/help/929852 (Re-enable IPv6 on all nontunnel interfaces) and reboot.

    3) Reset the network settings in Windows 11:

    https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/how_to_...

    4) Fix network connection issues in Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix...

    5) Go to Settings > Network & Internet > WIfi > Manage Known Networks, highlight and remove the network having problems, restart PC to see if it shows up again.

    6) Try plugging in by ethernet cable to the router to compare, then plug the ethernet cable into the modem (if separate) to see if this might be an issue with the router.

    7) Try powering off modem, router and PC and then restarting in that order with 1 minute in between each. You may need to reset your router or even optimize it following these steps:

    https://www.lifewire.com/resetting-a-home-netwo...

    https://www.pcmag.com/article/258865/how-to-set...

Your router manual is always available from the manufacturer's website for your exact model.

    8) You also are entitled to Support from your internet provider to get online on all devices. This is always included in the monthly bill. If your router is less than a year old they will also Support getting it connected and optimized.

    9) Another option is you could replace the wireless adapter with an inexpensive USB nano adapter like one of these:

    https://www.amazon.com/OURLiNK-600Mbps-Wireless...

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P5PRK7J

    10) Try all of these fixes:

    https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/fix-windows-10-wi...

    https://pureinfotech.com/fix-wifi-problems-wind...

    https://www.technewstoday.com/wifi-not-working-...

    11) Establish a Clean Boot to get rid of Startup freeloaders that can hog resources and cause issues by conflicting:

    https://www.makeuseof.com/clean-boot-windows-11/

    12) Run System File Checker/DISM in WIndows 11:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/use-system-file-c...

    13) If that doesn't fix it then you can do a Windows 11 Repair Upgrade which reinstalls Windows while saving your files and apps in place, brings it up to the latest version by the most stable method, takes about an hour and resolves most problems: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

  4. Windows 11 PC suddenly has "No internet, secured". Can't use WiFi on PC although other...

    Question about WiFi and PC

Hello. I just set up my first WiFi network on my Windows PC in my home, but I want to make sure that I am doing everything properly as it relates to connecting.

On a Microsoft support page, it states the following on how to connect to your WiFi:

Connect a PC to your wireless network

    1. Select the Network or icon in the notification area.
    2. In the list of networks, choose the network that you want to connect to, and then select Connect.
    3. Type the security key (often called the password).
    4. Follow additional instructions if there are any.
When I turn on my PC, I notice that I get Internet access immediately. I don't need to follow steps 1-4 at all. I do not have the "Connect Automatically" box checked.

Why don't I have to click on the Connect button like step 2 states? I want to make sure that my WiFi is secure, also.

    Thank you.
