    OK...I HATE Microsoft.I went in to every computer on our domain and changed the registry to prevent the update to Windows 11. I am a CPA and we can't have this change occurring during tax season.Of course yesterday, machines started updating to Windows 11 anyway thanks a bunch Microsoft.Now I have a handful of machines that won't open a PDF file from a link. Click the link, it opens the default browser have tried Edge and Chrome and it gives a frown face and the document doesn't show up. I can download the PDF and open it by double clicking then it opens in my default PDF application w

    Print to PDF missing in Printer List

    Hi William,

    We suggest that you disable and re-enable the Print to PDF feature. Here are the steps:

    • Click on the Start menu and type in Windows Features.
    • Choose Turn Windows features on or off.
    • On the next window, find Microsoft Print to PDF and disable it. Click
      OK to save changes.
    • Restart your PC.
    • Repeat the same steps to re-enable Microsoft Print to PDF.
    If the issue persists, we suggest that you perform the troubleshooting steps suggested on the link below under
    Advanced:

    Fix printer problems

    PDF does not open in IE 11

    Hi Marc,



    Thank you for posting in Microsoft community.



    We understand your concern and will certainly assist you to solve it.



    We would like to inform you that the feature to open pdf in IE 11 by default is not available in Internet explorer 11. However, if you download any pdf in internet explorer 11, you can select Open option and it will open the pdf in Microsoft Edge.



    We suggest you to give us your valuable feedback using the feedback app. To open feedback app, please follow the below steps:



    1. In the Search bar, type Windows Feedback.

    2. Select the Windows Feedback icon and hence start the feedback app to provide your feedback.



    Please let us know if the issue is resolved or you need any further assistance.

    Best free PDF software?

    I use:
    • UnityPDF to merge/split PDFs and to insert/extract pages
    • doPDF to create PDFs from any program that is capable of printing
    • Foxit Reader to view PDFs and to type in them
