Windows 10: Windows 11 photo app issues

I'm trying to transfer photos from my iphone to an external hard drive. This used to be a really easy process but Windows decided to add some cloud nonsense where they try to bleed you dry for money. Because it only wants to upload EVERYTHING. Am i Missing it? Its not giving me options for transfer options. It wont show me any folders available to transfer to and I DONT WANT TO TRANSFER TO FOLDERS, I WANT TO TRANSFER TO MY HARD DRIVE. I'm about to ditch this new laptop for a mac because I hate new Windows so much

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Photo app and check if it helps.

Follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Type Windows Powershell in search box.
• Right click on Windows Powershell and select
  Run as administrator.
• Copy and paste the following command.

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

• Press Enter key.

After uninstalling the Photo app I suggest you to download and install the app again and check.

There is a possibility that there is an app or a driver conflicting with the photos app and causes this issue to arise. We suggest that you follow these troubleshooting steps to fix this.

• Uninstall the Photos app.
• Perform Clean Boot - This troubleshooting step makes sure that there are no third party apps is causing software conflicts
  as it only loads minimum drivers and startup programs. Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the KB article to boot the computer in normal
  startup after fixing the issue.
• Reinstall the Photos app.
