Windows 10: Windows 11 Photos only works with uncompressed Files

I have attempted to use Photos on Windows 11 on numerous occasions. It has always told me that none of my Folders contain any images. This is untrue as I have about 100,000 images. I have now discovered that if I UNCOMPRESS the image folders Photos can find and view the images.I have used many image Apps in the past and they are all capable of dealing with compressed folders. Since compression is part of the standard Windows operating system, shouldn't Microsoft Apps be able to deal with compressed folders?Is this a bug or just poor coding?Can it be fixed?

I have downloaded this, and it did not work; photo viewer is not in the list of programs in Open With or Default App. I used option 2 step 3, followed by step 5 to 9.

This issue often caused by a corrupted files. For us to have your Photo app working, we suggest that you restore Photos app package by following these steps:

• Click on Start.
• Type PowerShell, and select Windows PowerShell
  from the list of result.
• Type this command and press Enter:
  • Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
• Restart your computer. Check if the issue persists.

The photos app that came with Windows 11 stopped working

Here are some suggestions.. one of which may work:

1) Uninstall Photos using PowerShell and download/install the Older (Windows 10 version) Photos App

If that doesn't help, try #2.

2) Uninstall Photos using PowerShell and delete the Photos app package folder as mentioned under "Step 2: Uninstall Photos, Remove Leftover Files, and Reinstall" on this page.

Let's hope one of the above methods works.
