This follows on from @cruzmaester's earlier question which did not receive a working answer. Please read that here:Windows 11 - Pinned apps disappears from Start Menu after Reboot - Microsoft CommunityWe have this issue for all computers/user profiles on Windows 11, in enterprise. Microsoft have not resolved it. As far as I'm concerned it is a bug. My question: When will Microsoft resolve this issue?

  2. Windows 11 - Pinned apps disappears from Start Menu after Reboot

    Hello

I have an issue with the Start Menu of my Windows 11.

I've tried all the suggested fixed found online relating to this:

    • Closed/Stopped and Restarted Windows Explorer
    • Run the System File Checker (SFC)
    • Repair the Windows System Image with DISM
    • Re-register the Start menu Shell experience packages
    • Updated my graphics drivers (though the system advised afterwards that I already have the latest drivers installed)
    • I even used the Windows Troubleshooter
And not a single of these suggestions have fixed my Windows 11 Start menu issues. After reboot, it (Start Menu) reverts back to its original formatting of its original pinned apps by the system. All my changed (rearrangements of existing pinned apps and/or pinning additional apps) are reset back to the original Start Menu configuration.

I have a Dell G3 laptop running Windows 11. It's a personal laptop. My Start Menu is standard (ie. no tweaks or 3rd-party apps to enhance it). And since I rarely turn this laptop off (mostly on stand-by mode only), I don't know how long I've had this issue. I've only recently noticed it.

The laptop around 2 weeks ago, was updated to the new Windows 11 2H22 version (via Windows Update). I'm not sure if these issues started after the update.

    Search Issues

Apart from the above issue, I also have a search issue where it does not find any of my installed apps. It always points to the web. Even if I type in "Excel", "Paint" or "Word". I've indexed and re-indexed my PC to no avail.

Candy Crush Saga & Spotify Issues

And it also seems to keep reinstalling Candy Crush Saga, and Spotify. With Candy Crush Saga, even after clicking "Uninstall", the icon remains in the Start Menu.

    Please advise.

  4. Windows 11 - Pinned apps disappears from Start Menu after Reboot

    start menue

We appreciate your response and the information provided. We suggest that you follow these troubleshooting steps and see if they help:

    • Start a CMD window (Windows-X, Command Prompt)
    • Then type in C:\windows\system32\tdlrecover.exe -reregister -resetlayout -resetcache

Reboot is not required but a quick reboot may clear up any residual issues after the command is run.

Disclaimer: Corruption recovery removes any manual pins from
    Start menu
. Apps should still be visible, but you’ll need to re-pin any secondary tiles and/or pin app tiles to the main Start view.

We're looking forward to your feedback.
