    Hello,I have a laptop that I purchased a year ago with a Windows Pro Education key from the manufacturer. My hard drive crashed, and I had to reinstall the OS, with the new 22H2 version. But now at the Let’s set things up for you page, it is asking for a school or work account. I don’t have either. I have a personal O365 outlook.com account that I am paying for each year. But the W11Pro22H2 will not allow me to use it. I don’t have a Home version key, and I am not planning on buy one, since the current key came with the laptop. What can I do to get my account back installed on here. Before 22H

    Upgrade to Win 11 Pro from Win 10 Pro and keep local account

    I've been running the Insider Release Preview of Windows 11 22H2 on some of my machines for a while now. The current latest build 22621.457 is pretty close to being ready to release. I have an ISO for that build and have just tested that. Yes, stay disconnected from the internet until install is finished and use the latest known workaround and you can still clean install Windows 11 22H2 and set it up with only a local account.

    Upgrade to Win 11 Pro from Win 10 Pro and keep local account

    I agree this has nothing to do with a Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade. I did that a few months ago where my local account was preserved.

    However, for a clean install of Windows 11 Microsoft does its best to make you use a Microsoft account but you can still bypass that with the current release ISO 21H2 for Windows 11. I agree the old workarounds no longer work but the new one I used still do. I installed both Windows 11 Home and Windows 11 Pro just last week. Note I only have local accounts for each one.

    BTW, the next Windows 11 release, 22H2 is scheduled to be released on September 20. I will be checking it to see if the Microsoft account is required for that one. Also, a person might want to wait until 22H2 is available until they upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
