Windows 10: Windows 11 Pro cannot browse to a mapped drive using Add Printer wiard

I'm hoping someone can assist. At my work, all of the printer network drivers are stored on a shared network drive.On Windows 10, the process was:1. map a drive on the PC where the network drivers are stored2. On the Windows PC, we go to:2. Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> Add a printer -> The printer I want isn't listed 3. -> Add a printer using an IP address or hostname, then click Next4. -> Select TCP/IP Device from drop-down list5. -> input the IP Address ie 10.11.176.226, then click Next6. -> click "Have Disk" button7. -> click "Browse" button8. -> cl

Problems with mapped drive

Well I got one step closer to getting the mapped drive working.

Instead of using Windows 10 File Explorer to map the Network Drive, I do it manually from a Command Prompt run as Administrator:

net use G: \\XP07\XP_Dev

After executing this command I can copy files to and from the mapped drive to the system disk. And while this is a huge step forward there are still other problems with the mapped drive.

Opening a jpg file in Paint by clicking it from File Explorer loads the picture just fine, but I can't save it. When Paint tries to save the file it can't find the mapped drive, it doesn't even show up when browsing for a place to save it.

There are a few links on the web discussing this very issues of not being able to browse a mapped drive from within a program. There is supposed to be a registry fix for this by adding EnableLinkedConnections and settings it's value to 1 but it didn't work.

So the next step after getting File Explorer working is to somehow get programs to see the mapped drive.

 

Map Network Drive Windows 11

I need some help, I'm trying to resolve a Map Network Drive issue. Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). The computer or service you are trying to reach might are temporarily unavailable.

When I try to map a resource on my windows 11 laptop I'm getting ( Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) is not responding.

This issue just started in Dec of 2022. I have been able to map network drives up until Dec.

I would appreciate any help. Just to let you know I've already disabled McAfee antivirus, VPN, Windows VPN. Private networks >File and printer sharing is on, Network Discovery is on, Public networks> Network discovery is off, File and printer sharing is off. I've tried all the steps that I read on this site and nothing has worked. This is a new laptop with Windows 11 Pro Dell Inspiron 16 5620

 

Map Network Drive no results when Browse selected

I have Windows 10 Pro on my 2 laptops and my desktop. I have Windows 10 Home on my HTPC. I have not needed to map any network drives since last year until I just purchased my second 10 Pro laptop a couple weeks ago. Now none of my Windows 10 computers display anything when I select Browse to Map a Network Drive. All were working when I last tried which was in September 21, 2021. I get a window that displays the word Network and nothing else. I have made no changes to any of my hardware or software since 09/21/2021. I did verify that Advanced Sharing Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing was checked. I verified that the disks and folders that I want to share are Shared. I can go to each PC and get the Network path from the Sharing tab from Properties of each drive and enter that manually. The only thing that has changed on my PCs are Windows updates that have taken place since 09/21/2021. My question is: Why are my network drives or anything not showing when I click Browse?
