Windows 10: Windows 11 Pro - Explorer crashes when cut/Copying files/Existing File Conflict

Windows 11 Pro; OS Build 22000.739PC: 11th Gen IntelR CoreTM i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHzRAM: 64.0 GBI am trying to consolidate multiple folders with similar contents; in some cases, newer files exist with the same name. When I attempt to cut/paste folders from one location to another and there are file conflicts, I receive the notice of conflicting files. I click "Let me Decide", and before I can take further action, Explorer crashes and restarts. Troubleshooting actions taken: - Have tried running Explorer as an administrator- Have run "sfc/scannow"- Have run "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Ima

Windows Explorer crashing due to large files

It's an .exe right? Explorer probably read its icon (to a cache) when it was a "small" file and now call the quits when it finds "such a big" file.

If you want to delete it, use the console after killing explorer, you can run the console from TaskManager (Application -> New Task -> cmd). You might want to try copy the file to a different location (copy, not cut) and see if explorer can handle it in the new location before deleting it.

thats wierd... iv never had a large file crash explorer before....


and i have files ranging upto 80GB...

 

Java.nio.file - Copying files

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one
