Windows 10: Windows 11 Pro goes to sleep while Multimedia Playback since 2 years

When I set my notebooks energy options to sleep after 3 minutes, it will go to sleep although Prime Video or YouTube in Chrome is playing after the given time set for battery or plugged usage. The solutions provided are "just set it to never sleep" which is hilarious.In my advanced energy options, there is no option anymore to configure sleep behavior while media playback.I use an Asus Zephyrus G16 with Intel Ultra 9, 32GB RAM, RTX4070 and Win11 Pro Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-goes-to-sleep-despite-theres-music-playing/e7c38547-

Windows 10 (sometimes) goes to sleep after only 2 minutes of inactivity

Hello Mark,

Your screensaver might be one of the possible reasons why your computer goes to sleep every time the computer is inactive. It is possible that the idle time is set every 2 minutes. Having said that, you can try adjusting the waiting time by following the
steps below and see if it makes any difference:

• Go to Control Panel, click on Appearance and Personalization.
• Select Personalization.
  
• Click on Screen Saver at the bottom right.
• Adjust the waiting time and hit Apply.

If the issue persists, we recommend trying the suggestions posted by Aleksandr 10 in this
thread. Most of the Community users found his suggestions
helpful.

Windows 11 goes to Sleep even if "Sleep is not enabled" and does not recover properly

I have a laptop (Dell) computer (1 year old) and new desktop (Dell) computer. (3 months old) The Dell desktop was upgraded to Windows 11 Pro immediately after I received it. (In December) The laptop was upgraded to Windows 11 Pro one month ago. (End of January) Shortly after upgrading the laptop to Windows 11 Pro it started not waking up from "Sleep" mode. I would have to do a hard reset. (Power Off) On startup I received error messages that Windows did not load properly and have to restart again. I checked the power settings and made sure Sleep mode was not selected, but the laptop would still "Go to Sleep" at some point of non-use. I had started shutting the computer down as soon as I was done. There have been no issues with shutting it down and power up again.

In the last 10 days the desktop computer, also running Windows 11 Pro, has started to display the exact same symptoms. Sleep mode was turned off, but it still goes to sleep at some point.

This appears to me to be a Windows 11 Pro problem. They're both running Windows 11 Pro, 21H2. I have a new second laptop (one month old) that was recently (two weeks ago) upgraded to Windows 11 Pro as well. I do have it set to go to sleep after 5 hours. I have not experienced this issue with this laptop yet, but I expect it will follow the other two soon.

 

Windows 11, some applications seem to crash after laptop goes to sleep

Hello,

Currently whenever I close my laptop lid for prolonged periods (so the laptop goes to sleep) there seems to be some apps that seem to crash. They disappear completely from my desktop, or have to be forced to stop in task manager in order to restart them.

These apps are namely:

• Spotify
  
• Trello
  
• Whatsapp for PC
  
• WSL
  
• EarTrumpet
  

Wifi also seems to stop working after my laptop goes to sleep. I have to turn it off and on again to for it to work.

Steps taken to try fix issue:

• Restored to default power settings
  
• Ran power options troubleshooter
  

I am currently on the windows 11 insider program, in the Beta branch, and I am on the latest build at the moment

Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
