Windows 10: windows 11 pro, previous folders fail to be restored after restart

Not resolved: #7043690540 windows 11 pro open folders fail to be restored after restart. Folder options, view tab, check Restore previous folder windows at logon. Then open several local folders all in c: drive in tabs and windows. Restart windows. They failed to reappear :... Doesn't help to toggle Quick-boot option off or on. Two win11 machines have had this same misbehavior, as long as they've had win 11. Both pass SFC scans, and are fully updated. Folders do not restore when restarting Windows 11

Hello,

I have been looking for an answer to this issue since I received my new Dell with Windows 11 Pro. I am running version 23H2.

There are several folders opened on my desktop, and when I reset my system, or it is done automatically with an update, the folders that were opened and strategically placed on the desktop, will not reopen unless done so manually.

I have made sure that the option in the folder view indicates "Restore previous folder windows at logon" is checked.

This was working perfectly in Windows 10. There was never an upgrade to Windows 11 on this machine, as it was purchased with Windows 11 Pro on it.

Does anyone have any information on this issue that can help? I usually keep anywhere from 5 - 10 windows open that I would like to have automatically open when restarting.

Please advise.

Previous File Explorer windows are not restored even after turning on the "Restore previous folder windows at logon" feature on a Windows 10 computer

This happens every time you reboot a Windows 10 computer, both Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise.

Please try it yourself.

• Open Folder Options and select the View tab.
• De-Select/Un-Check "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
• Select/Check "Restore previous folder windows at logon"
• Leave the File Explorer window open and reboot the computer
• The previous open folder window will not be restored after logon
• Open a File Explore window and open the C:\ root folder or the C:\Windows folder
• The protected operating system files will once again be hidden
• Open Folder Options and select the View tab
• Locate the same values changed previously and look at their current setting.
• They will have returned back to their default values
  • "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" will be Selected/Checked
  • "Restore previous folder windows at logon" will be De-selected/Un-Checked

It seems to be a bug in Windows 10 that I would like to report.

To solve this problem, you can try disabling quick launch and restarting the system, then see if you can automatically open the folder window. To disable quick boot, follow these steps:

• Windows Search box enter Control Panel -- Open -- Power Options -- "Select Power button function" -- Change the operation of the computer's sleep and power buttons
  
• In the shutdown Settings section, make sure that "Enable Quick Boot" is unchecked -- save the changes and restart
  

Once you've done this, you can try reopening the folder window and restarting the system to see if they automatically recover.
