Hello, we are facing a problem with windows 11 pro not able to connect to other computers on the workgroup network, but the other computers can connect to the share folders on this window 11 pro PC, i did all of the below steps: but did not work.Check Network Discovery and File Sharing Settings:Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings.Ensure Network discovery and File and printer sharing are turned on.Under All Networks, make sure Turn off password protected sharing is selected.Ensure A

Cannot Find Other Computers in Workgroup

I did a fresh install of Windows 11 (Version 21H2, OS build 22000.258) on an older HP Envy notebook. Yes, I know, it's not a fully-compliant machine. However, when I try to connect to other computers in the same workgroup, I have issues. The workgroup name is set correctly, and I've enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP. The notebook "sees" the other computers in the workgroup, but keeps asking for a username and password to access them, even though password-protected sharing on all computers in the workgroup is disabled.

The network is Private. The settings for Private networks are Network Discovery=on. Automatic setup of network-connected devices=on. File & printer sharing=on. For public networks, Network Discovery=off. File & Printer Sharing=off.

Password-protected Sharing for All Networks=off.

I've tried setting the public network options to on, but same result.

Any suggestions? I had hoped that Windows 11 would be more connection-friendly than Windows 10. Perhaps I'll have to revert to Windows 8.1 until it no longer is supported--finding workgroup computers on 8.1 was a breeze, even without using the Homegroup option.

Windows 7 Professional & Windows XP Pro Networking

All of the computers are part of the same workgroup, I do a fair amount of computer work, but as you can imagine I haven't run across this problem yet (Windows 7 and all *Stick Out Tongue ). Anything else you can suggest?

 

Workgroup and Networks

Is the workgroup a subset of a network. I have 2 laptop computers and 1 wired printer which I want to be able to interface with each other . What is the best way to set up this connection? Is there a simple step by step instruction on how to set up a
connection? I am using windows 10 on 2 Dell PC's and a HP printer.
