Windows 10: Windows 11 pro reactivation after firmware update fails and I'm being told too bad, buy a...

I have a MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk Wifi motherboard and found after flashing the BIOS to the latest update 7D91vHB that my copy of Windows 11 Pro will not re-activate. I've spent about 2.5 hours with Microsoft on the phone support trying to resolve the issue, and the net is that they are telling me to buy a full Windows 11 Pro license again. We tried reinstalling Windows and they did a few other command line tricks that didn't work. I've flashed the BIOS at least two other times on this same computer and mobo before and Windows 11 Pro has always reactivated.My issue is further complicated because

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Windows 11 Update Failing

I have done all of the steps listed here and the KB5023706 still fails. I only recently ended up doing a complete repair (to get out of the Insider program that I entered by mistake). I have Windows 11 Pro installed - so if I download the ISO file will it recognize that this is windows 11 pro?

Update process wasn't too bad. I had a different option for step 13 of "Steps to follow after the TPM firmware update."


Instructions say to chose "Resume protection" but the only option I saw was "Turn on Bitlocker."
