1. windows 11 pro When JAVA heap expands in WSL2, system crashes

I have a JAVA app that uses about 16GB VM. When I run a JAVA app in WSL2 with a large heap, windows crashes very quickly. Before it crashes, I can see the app using 8-12GB memory, presumably less when modified pages are moved to swap. I set the system VM to 1024-262144 so it can handle up to 256GB. When I run a gcc program under Linux Launcher to find the max malloc size, it says about 10GB. The JAVA app still crashes the system. I have all the current MS Windows Updates. The system has 16GB ram.Device name THIS-JRKDUTOF4M Processor AMD Ryzen 5 8600G w/ Radeon 760M Graphics 4.35

WSL2 for windows

I have failed into installing WSL for Windows. I have read here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win.../install-win10 how to do it, and at step 4:

1. Download the latest package:
Note
If you're using an ARM64 machine, please download the ARM64 package instead. If you're not sure what kind of machine you have, open Command Prompt or PowerShell and enter: systeminfo | find "System Type".

2. Run the update package downloaded in the previous step. (Double-click to run - you will be prompted for elevated permissions, select ‘yes’ to approve this installation.)

I encountered:

windows 11 pro When JAVA heap expands in WSL2, system crashes 298438d1600682026t-wsl2-windows-image.png

and

windows 11 pro When JAVA heap expands in WSL2, system crashes 298439d1600682036t-wsl2-windows-image.png

What I did wrong ? I have the following W10 version:

windows 11 pro When JAVA heap expands in WSL2, system crashes 298440d1600682100t-wsl2-windows-image.png

Another question: am I in the the right forum ?

In Windows 11 power-saving mode, clicking the Windows Focus prompt on the lock screen will cause a system crash.

Problem description: As the title suggests.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enter Windows 11 power-saving mode.
2. Click the Windows Focus prompt on the lock screen.
Expected result: The login screen should appear and after logging in, the browser should automatically open to view content.

Actual result: The system crashes.

Device information:

• Windows 11 version: 22H2 (22621.1413)
• Device: Lenovo Xiaoxin 14 Pro 2021
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H
Other information:

• When plugged in, the system automatically turns off power-saving mode and cannot be turned on manually. The function works normally.
• When unplugged, turn off power-saving mode and the function works normally.
• When unplugged, turn on power-saving mode and the system crashes.

wndows 11 causing java crash

Hi, Martin Slovák

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It seems like you're experiencing issues with running Minecraft modpacks that use Java 17 on Windows 11. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Allocate Sufficient RAM: Make sure you're allocating enough RAM to Minecraft. Sometimes, modpacks require more RAM than the default allocation. You can adjust this in the Minecraft Launcher settings under "Installations" > "More Options" > "JVM Arguments". Try increasing the allocated RAM to see if it helps.
2. Check Java Version Compatibility: Ensure that the mods and the Minecraft Forge version you're using are compatible with Java 17. Some mods or Forge versions may not yet fully support Java 17, leading to crashes. You might need to switch to an earlier version of Java (e.g., Java 16) if compatibility issues persist.
3. Update Forge: Make sure you're using the latest version of Minecraft Forge compatible with Java 17. Check the Forge website or the CurseForge modpack page for updates. Sometimes, using an outdated version of Forge can cause compatibility issues.
4. Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can sometimes cause Minecraft to crash. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer to download and install the latest drivers.
5. Reinstall Minecraft: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft and the CurseForge launcher. This can sometimes fix issues related to corrupted game files or misconfigurations.
If you've tried all these steps and are still experiencing issues, you may want to reach out to the Minecraft community forums or the CurseForge support team for further assistance. They may have additional insights or solutions specific to your situation.
