Windows 10: Windows 11 product key in Parallels VM not accepted looks like it's the generic code

HI,Windows is not my primary OS but I have run it as a VM on my Mac for many years and the history of my Windows OS is lost in the mists of time!I originally installed Windows in a VM, possibly XP and have upgraded successively over the years.I was running Windows 11 on my Intel Mac Mini apparently fully registered without problems.After upgrading to a 2024 Mac Mini on Apple silicon, I've had to install the ARM version of Windows. Following a YouTube video I checked the product key for my version of Windows and then de-registered it from the command line on my Intel Mac.I then registered with

Trouble Reusing Windows 11 Pro Product Key/Retail License on New VM After Original VM Corruption

I'm encountering an issue with my Windows 11 Pro product key/retail license. Initially, I used this key to activate Windows on a virtual machine (VM). Unfortunately, that VM isntance became corrupted, preventing me from deactivating the windows properly. I've since created a new VM and attempted to activate it using the same product key. However, I'm receiving an error message stating that the product key is already in use, likely because I couldn't deactivate it on the original VM.

Has anyone else faced this problem? What steps can I take to resolve this issue and successfully activate Windows on my new VM? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

 

Transfering Win10 from Parallels VM to Bootcamp Partition

Hello,

I have Win10 installed via Parallels in a VM. This is really not optimal for games so I now have a 200 GB Partition made with Win10 installed via Bootcamp. However, I cannot activate my version of windows. I already have my Microsoft account set up on the
Bootcamp machine and it shows the last 5 digits of my product key. Can I deactivate the parallels VM and transfer the Product Key to the Bootcamp version? I really don't feel like shelling out $120.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

 

Transfer Windows 10/11 Digital License from VM to another

Hello Everyone,

I'm a Mac user with a need to virtualize a Windows instance.

On Jan 8th, I installed Parallels on my MacBook Air 13-inch M1. During Parallels installation, it was suggested to install a copy of Windows that I only realised later that is was copy of Windows 11 for ARM based systems. Right after Windows 11 installation, I acquired a Digital License through the Microsoft Store. So far, all good... Windows 11 is gorgeous by the way

Since I will be mostly on road, I quickly realised that I should host this VM on my other bigger MacBook Pro 16-inch due to his larger screen and more RAM. First thing that I learned is that, in Parallels, I cannot move a Windows VM created on a Mac M1 to an Intel based Mac.

My only option now, before expending another USD 100+, is to migrate the Windows 11 Digital License to a new VM created on Intel based Mac as Windows 10 and then upgraded to Windows 11.

Can this be done?

I tried capturing the product key [with help of external tool] from the initial VM, removed the license using slmgr tool and tried insert the product key on the new VM without success; also tried to start activation on the new VM and then use troubleshoot/hardware change with no success.

What else can I do?
