Windows 10: Windows 11 Product Key no longer found on device

After a recent update I have a watermark telling me to activate windows and in settings it says there is no product key found on this device Error code:0xC004F213I built this PC over a year ago and have had no issues until now.

Reactivating Windows 11 after retrieving the motherboard key involves using the original product key or digital license associated with your system.

Here are the steps to reactivate Windows 11:

1. Open Settings:
   
   • Click on the Start button and select the gear icon to open "Settings."
     
2. Navigate to Update & Security:
   
   • In the Settings menu, click on "Update & Security."
     
3. Go to Activation:
   
   • In the left sidebar, select "Activation."
     
4. Enter Product Key:
   
   • If you have a product key, click on "Change product key" and enter the key when prompted.
     
5. Use Digital License:
   
   • If your Windows 11 was linked to your Microsoft account, you might see an option to troubleshoot and link your digital license. Click on this option and follow the prompts.
     
6. Restart Your Computer:
   
   • After entering the product key or linking your digital license, restart your computer.
     
7. Verification:

From windows 11 to windows 10 product key

I built a gaming pc back in December and at that time I bought a windows 11 key from best buy. I have had issues with windows 11 so I wanted to go to windows 10 and see if that was more stable and helped with the issues I have been having. When going through the starting steps of windows install it asked for a product key but since I no longer had the box with the product code, I did the option of adding the product code later. After setup I found a way to locate the product code by using a note pad and entering some codes that was suggested by windows. After I saved the note pad it said product key and when I double clicked on the file it produced a product key (which I'm assuming is my original product key for the windows 11 copy I purchased). Now when I enter the product key in to activate windows 10 it is giving me an error of "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again or enter a different one. (0x80041023)" I really don't want to spend the $100 plus again for a windows 10 code please help.

 

Product Key

Keys are not required for the upgrade process. Windows 10 has a built-in generic key which it uses to install - it acquires the underlying Win7/Win8 activation during the upgrade process and assigns your device ID as a valid Windows 10 activated device. Subsequent installs will thus activate using your device ID. You will not require a key - should you be prompted, select "skip". Activation is automatic thereafter.
