  1. Windows 11 "Recommended" file section - .xlxs file shortcuts not appearing

Hello, a few months back I upgraded from Office 2016 Pro. to Office 2021 Pro. After the upgrade, I noticed my Windows 11 Pro 21H2 - 22000.856 was no longer showing .xlxs file shortcuts in the "Recommended" section. I've tried a "repair" in Office but that didn't resolve the issue. Before the upgrage to Office 2021, .xlxs file shortcuts were appearing. What's odd is I opened a .xls file and the shortcut is appearing in "Recommended". It seems that only .xlxs files are being impacted. Word, Power Point, PDF, etc. shortcuts are appearing.I've tired turning of

  2. Recommended Section Windows 11 : how to display again a file removed from the list ?

    Hello,

I like the Recommended section of Windows 11 in Start Menu, especially to open files that I am using frequently.

For some files, I asked Windows 11 by mistake to remove them from the Recommanded section by a 'Right Click' -> Remove from the list.

Now, I want to have them again in the Recommended section.

But I cannot find the way to reinitialize the Recommended section settings or to add them back in the list one by one.

I tried to activate/deactivate Recommended section but it does not do that.

    Any advice ?

    Thank you for your help.

  3. Creating Shortcuts with Batch File

Threw a program together quick for you. It is attached with source in the other. Use it in place of your VBScript.

    It supports:
CreateShortcut [save shortcut] [path to run]
CreateShortcut [save shortcut] [path to run] [icon index]
CreateShortcut [save shortcut] [path to run] [icon file]
CreateShortcut [save shortcut] [path to run] [icon file] [icon index]

If "icon index" is missing, it assumes 0. If "icon file" is missing it assumes "path to run." It doesn't presently support arguments to be added to the shortcut nor modifying the working directory (always assumes same directory as "path to run").

Requires .NET Framework 4.0 to run. Will run natively on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.

Windows 11 "Recommended" file section - .xlxs file shortcuts not appearing

    Creating Shortcuts with Batch File

So basically my Batch File will now look like this:

Code: @Echo off CreateShortcut.exe "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Notepad.lnk" "C:\Windows\System32\notepad.exe"[/quote] Thanks man! *Big Grin Windows 11 "Recommended" file section - .xlxs file shortcuts not appearing :D This does exactly what I want done and I'm able to customize the icon for the shortcut without problems. But I'm not quite sure how to use the [icon file] portion you mentioned that it supports. I tried the following Batch File:

Code: @Echo off CreateShortcut.exe "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Notepad.lnk" "C:\Windows\System32\notepad.exe" "C:\Users\Administrator\Pictures\Notepad.ico"[/quote] It created the shortcut but didn't change the icon.
