Windows 10: Windows 11 reinstallation switched my D drive to C drive and vice versa.

I reinstalled windows 11 and it switched my D drive to C drive and vice versa how to fix it?

Thanks for the reply. I did as suggested, but it did not solve the problem.

Not sure from which drive I'm supposed to execute the commands and if this matters at all. When entering command prompt mode, I was on drive X: and can change to C: and D:, I executed first on C:, then on D:, with same result:

BOOTREC /FIXMBR -> process completed

BOOTREC /FIXBOOT -> access denied

BOOTREC /scanos -> 0 Windows installations found

BOOTREC /rebuildbcd -> 0 Windows installations found

As indicated in my original post, drive letters C: (was originally the SSD with Windows and program installations) and D: (was originally the HDD holding data) have somehow switched. When I go to C: in command prompt and execute DIR, it shows me all the
content that was supposed to be on D: and vice versa.

That means, I can find the Windows directory that was supposed on C: under drive letter D: now, which might be a symptom of the issue, or the root cause.

So might it help to switch back drive letters C: and D:, and how can this be done?

Windows 10 PC crashed and won't restart. The C: and D: drives appear to have switched.

Won't even start in Safe Mode

Can get to command prompt, and when I dir, it seems that everything that should be on the C: drive is showing as being on the D: drive, and vice versa.

None of the other options from the fix menus work, not even re-installing Wndows / reset PC

PC is a gaming machine, about 8 months old. Still under warranty but computer shop is closed due to Covid-19 :-(

Can anyone suggest a fix, please?

 

Moving 'System' Drive from C to D Drive

I recently had to do a fresh reset on my pc and even had to go buy a new windows 10 key, however during installation i installed the windows os on my SSD which is bigger but the original os was installed on the hdd before. Now my old C drive is my D drive
and vice versa. Is there a way to move my os over to the other drive without some kind of cloning software? Im not really concerned with losing any files, i just need to switch my os back to my hdd.
