Windows 10: Windows 11: "Show Desktop Icons" must be true for Ctrl+N to open a new File Explorer...

Recently moved from Windows 10 to 11...... As the title states, from the Desktop, Ctrl+N does nothing unless you have "Show Desktop Icons" checked as true. Not sure if this is on purpose or not but I wish I could hide my clutter without it affecting my shortcuts

Windows 11 file explorer shuts down on Ctrl+Shift+N

New computer, fresh new install of Windows 11 Home. In File Explorer, Ctrl+Shift+N causes File Explorer to close.

 

Ctrl-N function not working on File Explorer - Windows 11

One of the function key shortcuts I use the most is the Ctrl-N while File Explorer is open. That would open a new instance and easily allow me to drag files from one location to another between windows. Since using Windows 11 this Ctrl function works sporadically. Some times it may work but often it does not. Has anyone else experienced this behavior which started with Windows 11?

 

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.
