    Windows 11 is saying my 1TB disk is almost full due to apps taking up space - over 700 GB. I have 87 apps and the biggest is 1.7 GB and most are measured in MB, so 700 GB for just apps is impossible. The other things taking up space look correct. Per the properties, I only have 30 GB free. How do I correct this?

    Windows 10 shows incorrect free disk space on 18TB WD external drive encrypted with Veracrypt. I have 2 WD Elements Desktop WDBWLG0180HBK with 18TB storage capacity. The drives are both GPT and Windows 10 sees these drives and the entire storage capacity. Then I completely encrypted the drives with VeraCrypt using exFat. Windows 10 sees the drives and the entire storage capacity. Then used FastCopy to copy large amounts of files from the Synology NAS to an 18TB drive. Windows 10 now indicates that the drive still has 2.3TB of free space. When I view the 18TB drive with applications such as WinDirStat or Folder Size, they indicate that there is much less space in use and that there should therefore still be a lot of space free. For example, WDS indicates that 9TB is in use, 2.3TB is free space and 5.1TB space is in use by unknown (see attachment). How can I solve this problem?

    Update: I tried to place more files on the other 18TB drive, resulting in Windows 10 reporting 'disk full' (see attachment).

    windows wont use hard drive

    Windows uses binary, based on 2. HDD makers use decimal, based on 10. Windows always shows less space than the hard drive's label. Both are correct, however.

    Windowed Hard Drives

    On the contrary, showing off "slow tech" by adding a window to a hard drive is a "dumb" idea. Do you really want to be showing off a whole "7200-10000 RPM of power" or would you rather show off a plain SSD drive? (If you really desire to "show off")

    Adding any window to any drive is just stupid. I just suggested an easier option for you since manufactures don't put windows on the latest hard drives.
