Windows 10: Windows 11 shows no internet when connected to Ethernet - browsers/most programs work, but...

I'm connecting to the Internet through Ethernet, with wi-fi turned off. The bottom-right taskbar shows the NCSI icon for Connected No internet, with the tooltip "Ethernet", "No internet access". However, I can connect to most websites and services.Running Windows Update produces the following error message:We couldn't check for updates because you aren't connected to the internet. Connect to the internet and try again.Under Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Hardware and connection properties, the Ethernet entry shows Status: Operational, but Connectivit

Ethernet shows red X and does not appear in settings, but still works


Not sure why this is happening. I have working ethernet and am connected, it works fine. But the taskbar icon shows a red X over it, and the tooltip says "Not Connected - No connections are available". Looking in "Network & Internet", ethernet is not even listed there. And before anyone suggests wireless interference .. this PC does not have a wireless card or integrated wireless.

• In which browser are you facing this issue e.g. Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer?

Multiple browsers: Chrome, Explorer, Firefox

• Do you get any error message?
  • In Chrome, I get "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE" as the error message
• Have you installed all pending Windows updates?
  • Yes. It is continuously getting updated.

• Do you face connection fluctuation in Ethernet connection?
  • No. The internet connection is a solid 40Mb downlink. The same problem occurs when I'm hooked to a different internet service provider.

• Is the issue specific to any particular website?
  • No, it occurs when I'm accessing multiple web sites. It is not related to any web site.

I suggest you to try connecting to Ethernet connection and check if face same issue.

The problem occurs when I'm using wired ethernet, an internal wifi card, or an external wifi usb dongle.

Also install all pending Windows updates I.

I just checked it . It is up to date.

Further you can refer the link below and follow the troubleshooting steps suggested.

I'm not going to spend time on these other steps, since as I mentioned it occurs on multiple browsers, and it is not tied to Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, unless you give me a good reason to do so.

11 of 14 computers in lab showing limited Ethernet connection


Lab with 14 identical computers. 11 of the 14 show limited ethernet connection. Basic internet works ok but things like accessing the internet inside word say there is no internet connection. Connections are working through Untangle server. If I connect directly to the internet the problem seems to be resolved.
