Windows Hello Face Sign In Option Unavailable

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving the issue. I understand that you are unable to use Windows Hello Face and PIN on your computer. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    • Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?

You may want to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned below and see if that helps:

    Reset Windows Hello Biometric Database:

    1. Press Windows key + R, to open Run dialog box.
    2. Type services.msc and click on OK.
    3. Look for Windows Biometric Service, double click on it and click on Stop.
    4. Now, go to C:\Windows\System32\WinBioDatabase, take a backup of all the files inside the WinBioDatabase folder.
    5. After taking a backup of the files, delete all the files.
    6. Now, open Services by following step 1 and 2, and restart the Windows Biometric Service.
    7. Go to Start >> Settings >> Accounts >> Sign-in options and register the Face data again.

  3. All sign-in options unavailable

Hi Dagamer. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

I believe you must have a PIN first before you can have a fingerprint sign-in.

Of course you must have a password before you can have any other sign-in. So if you're stuck look for the Sign-in Options link nearby on the Log-in page to change to password. It will always be there unless the account has become corrupted.

Make sure to remember your password or reset it now, because if your Security mobile or email are not updated it could throw you into 30 day Account recovery when you need the PC most!

You said it's forcing you to sign in with your PIN, but the setting says it's unavailable. If you can get into Windows with your password, use whichever method works here to reset the PIN: https://www.technewstoday.com/change-pin-windows/

If you cannot get into Windows try the fixes here to fix it from the Repair Mode or bootable media: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Is there an error message when you try any of this which can provide us with clues we need to fix the problem? If not then try these fixes for Windows Hello Option is Currently Unavailable error in Windows 11:

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the detailed results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.
