    Windows 11 - Slight issue with pinning applications to start menu


    When I click pin to start for an application, it seems like nothing happens until I then click unpin from start then click pin to start again. This is not such a big problem, but it is a little annoying and it confuses me.

    Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

    I would like to inform you that you can only pin or unpin desktop apps or modern apps/apps installed from Windows Store to the start screen.

    As you mentioned you are facing issues while searching for Paint. I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

    • Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
    • Type Paint.
    • Right click on Paint desktop app and select Pin to start.

    • Are you referring to NY Times application?
    • How are you accessing NY times (Via online or via App)?
    • What exactly happens when you try to perform the above mentioned steps to pin application to Start?
