Windows 10: Windows 11 Snipping Tool retain previous save folder

In previous iterations of the Snipping Tool when I would save a capture to a particular folder, then make an additional capture, the folder I had previously saved to would be the default save location for the next save as long as I was in the same session of the tool. This was especially useful when making a large number of captures that needed to be saved to locations that could be several folders deep.This is no longer the case, and I would really like to have this functionality back. Is there any way to accomplish this within the tool?

Snip Tool won't save directly

My snip tool won't save snips at all unless I manually go into the snip tool and save it from there. I'm running Windows 11.

I have all of these enabled:

• Snipping tool notifications
  
• Use the Print screen button to open screen snipping
  
• Save Snips
  

I've created a new user profile, turned off and on all those various settings, updated my computer fully, and rebooted.

I talked with someone in tech support at length but he was stumped too since I have the "Save Snips" option enabled.

Please try this:

Step 1:

Click Start, and type Snipping Tool.

Right-click Snipping Tool from the search results, and click App Settings

Click Reset,

Click Repair.

Note: In Windows 11, there is no Snip and Sketch. It comes pre-installed with the new Snipping Tool (which replaces the old Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch apps)

Step 2:

Turn off Focus assist if it's enabled

Step 3:

Open Services.msc and make sure that the following services are set to "Automatic" and running:

• Windows Push Notifications System Service
  
• Windows Push Notifications User Service
  

 

Windows 10 Snipping Tool on Windows 7

All it is is one extra step beyond what is native to windows 10. Yes, technically it would be easier to have the functionality of print built in to the Windows 7 version, but you just have to save it ,and right click on it ,and print.

As far as getting the windows 10 version into windows7. I know there was a way to get the old winpaint, so maybe there's a way to get the snipping tool into 10, I don't know.
