  1. Windows 11 Snippit Tool - "Couldn't save screenshot"

For a few months and most likely after an update, the Windows 11 Snippit Tool has been giving me the following error:Couldn't save screenshot Wait a bit and try again. If this continues send us your feedback. It used to save them automatically to my OneDrive Picture Screenshots directory but not anymore.I have tried reinstalling the app from the MS Store but that made no difference.I sent feedback to MS some weeks ago but haven't gotten any feedback.

    :)

  3. Change Snipping Tool save location on Windows 11 but not Screenshots

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Unfortunately, as of as I know, there is no direct way to change the default save location for the Snipping Tool without also affecting the Screenshots folder in Windows 11. The Snipping Tool and the Screenshot function share the same default save location.

However, there's a workaround you might find useful. After you've taken a snip using the Snipping Tool, rather than simply clicking the save button (floppy disk icon), you can choose "File" from the menu and then "Save As". This will allow you to select a specific location where you want to save the snip. If you always save your snips to the same location using this method, the Snipping Tool will remember the location and suggest it as the default place to save the next time you use "Save As".

    Best regards

  4. Windows 11 Snippit Tool - "Couldn't save screenshot"

    windows 10 snippit capture

    Deepika,

I followed your suggestion of running a system file checker scan. It found some other issues (since corrected) but nothing as far as I can tell related to the snipping tool issue which is that captures are saved as 'black boxes'-- not as the desired images.
I also checked to be certain I wasn't missing any updates, and all updates were current. The problem still exists. Further help would be greatly appreciated since the snippit feature worked before in Windows 10.
