Windows 10: Windows 11, sound wont play from multiple apps at once

Discus and support Windows 11, sound wont play from multiple apps at once in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I am having an issue where sound is only playing from one application at a time So I cant have music playing while on a game this is a new issue that...     Windows 11, sound wont play from multiple apps at once


    I am having an issue where sound is only playing from one application at a time So I cant have music playing while on a game this is a new issue that has popped up within the past couple of days and no attempt I have done to fix the issue has worked. I have changed the default format time and again in sound settings as well as made sure the 'exclusive control' option is disabled to little avail.Any help is appreciated

    No sound while playing audio and video files.

    Hi,

    I appreciate if you could answer to a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    • Which is the application that you are using to play the files?
    • Did you try the same on a different player?
    • Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?
    As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to check if the volume is set low or in mute state in Volume Mixer.

    • Right click on sound icon.
    • Open Volume Mixer check for the application that you are playing the files with and increase the volume and check.
    If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

    Follow these Steps to run Playing Audio Troubleshooter in Windows 10.

    1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

    2. Select Troubleshooting.

    3. Select View all on the top left corner.

    4. Click on Playing audio.

    Logoff, Logon, shutdown, restart, startup sounds not playing


    I'm running Threshold 2 of Win10. It seems the Startup Sound is working again. Previously, even checked it would only play intermittently on a warm boot, not a cold one. Now it seems to work all the time. There is a 3rd party app that lets you change the Startup Sound to whatever you want, without you having to go through the hack steps.

    The Exit Windows sound is another matter. Even enabled via the Registry and reappearing in the Sound list, selecting a sound for that does not make it play at shutdown.
