Windows 10: Windows 11 Spotlight lockscreen on Windows 10

When I first installed Windows 10 on my laptop, a few years ago, I found a really cool feature in my Lockscreen settings called Spotlight where you get a random photo as your lockscreen background every day along with information you can click on to find out more about the photo. As much as I love Spotlight, I decided to use a custom Lockscreen photo instead of Spotlight on my laptop until recently when I changed my Lockscreen settings back to Spotlight. My dad got a new computer a few months ago and his computer, which runs Windows 11, also has the Lockscreen Spotlight feature. Long story sho

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 Lockscreen with Spotlight

Hi,

I'm running Windows 10 build 1703 (Creators Upgrade).

I have two users set up on a desktop PC (both signing in using Live accounts).

I have tried to set up the lockscreen on both users to use the Windows Spotlight background (i.e. Settings, Personalisation, Lock Screen, Background = Windows Spotlight), however the background does not change.

I know the feature works as I have set it up on my laptop (where there is only one user set up), and the lockscreen background changes every day.

Is it possible to get spotlight to work for multiple users?

 

Windows Spotlight Lockscreen not visible

Hi,

The recent Windows 10 update may have unregistered your Windows Spotlight or possible that a software conflict may have caused this problem. Have you tried shutting down and restarting your computer? If you haven't, then we suggest that you do that first
to isolate this problem.

If restarting your computer did not do anything, then we may have to re-register your Windows Spotlight. Follow these steps:

• Go to Settings and click Personalization.
• Click Lock screen.
• Set Background to either Picture or Slideshow.
• Open the Run command by pressing Windows key + R.
• Type in the below command and hit Enter.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like “*SystemApps*”} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Once done, press Windows key + L to see if Windows Spotlight is working.
