Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse does not click on Windows 10 UI Elements

    Hi,

    Got a strange problem.

I have a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop Keyboard, Mouse and Numeric Pad Set.

This was working great in Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit

I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit.

However since then my mouse does not click on any of the modern UI elements.

eg I can click on the Notifications Icon in the taskbar, but I then cannot click on anything in the Notification area eg Connect, All Settings, Location, VPN etc I can via the keyboard navigate to them and use the mouse to activate them.

Also when I click the new Windows 10 Start Menu it shows the menu, however I cant click on anything. I can again use the keyboard to navigate and test.

The mouse works fine inside things like Google Chrome and links etc it's just the new UI elements.

I've tried uninstalling the USB Drivers and Re-installing, I've tried using different USB ports for the receiver.

As a test I pulled out an old $5 Wireless Mouse to check. And that works fine.

So it seems there is something wrong with the Mouse Drivers on Windows 10 for the Ergonomic that cause it not to "see" the new UI elements.

  3. Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse does not click on Windows 10 UI Elements

    Hi,

Thank you for choosing Windows 10.

I understand that you are unable to use the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop Mouse. Let me assist you with the issue.

The possible cause could be with the mouse Drivers.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?
    • Does the Keyboard and Numeric Pad work fine?
    • When you say that pulled out an old $5 Wireless Mouse to check, do you mean that you are able to work on the items in the Notification area using the Wireless mouse?

I suggest you to, for now, uninstall the mouse drivers from the device manager and restart the computer to check if the issue persists.

    Uninstall Mouse Driver.

    • Press Windows + letter 'R' key.
    • Type the command 'Devmgmt.msc' to open Device Manager.
    • Expand "Mice and other Pointing Devices."
    • Right click on the mouse driver and select uninstall.
    • Restart the computer. This will load the generic drivers.
    • Check if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to visit the manufacturer's website and install the most recent drivers available for your machine. Also if you were provided with a software Discs with the Device, I suggest you to run the disc and install the drivers.

Hope this helps. Please reply for further queries on this.
