Windows 10: Windows 11 Taskbar change since Jan 2024

Late Jan early Feb 2024 my Windows 11 Pro taskbar changed after an update and the change is pathetic and needs to be removed. The problem is that there is a huge gap of unusable real-estate between the up arrow button and the start of the icons.

The other issue is that because of the reduced real-estate some icons are now grouped into a pop up, but the icons in this pop up can't be removed!!

Since the Taskbar change I've completely reinstalled Windows 11 and the problem went away until the most recent update!!

This is an issue that was present about 18 months ago and why its back is beyond imagination.

Can windows STOP changing stuff to change sake!!

No, Smaller Taskbar or smaller icons are not supported yet in Windows 11.

That doesn't seem like a step backwards, it IS a step backwards, in fact ALL the changes that have been made to the Windows 11 taskbar are a step backwards.
