  1. Windows 11 taskbar hides part of maximized windows

Using Windows 11 Home 21H2. When I have taskbar set to Always show, the applications maximize behind the taskbar, so the taskbar hides the windows below it. This is clearly a bug as Windows 10 and older versions always maximize windows to the available space above the taskbar automatically. See screenshots below. This is a simple and expected functionality and I'm surprised I didn't find any articles from my quick Google search. Also it's a horrible experience. I had to auto-hide the taskbar to see the full content of the windows, but I loathe having it hidden, as then the notification trays an

Taskbar hiding behind maximized window in Windows 10

    Hello Carlo Fer,

I did not notice any updates before the problem occurred.

I have tried rebooting several times. I have checked the taskbar settings. I moved the taskbar to the top of the screen and then back to the bottom as someone suggested on the forum.

To be clear, I have the Taskbar set to Autohide.

It works as it should, i.e. hiding until the mouse hovers over the bottom of the screen, until the screensaver activates and I enter my password to dismiss it. Then, all windows are minimized even if I had one maximized when the screensaver activated.
The behavior begins with the next screen I maximize. The Taskbar stays hidden behind the maximized screen. I can press Win-T and the taskbar will appear, but as soon as it hides, it will not reappear. If I toggle F11 to full screen and back to normal, then
the taskbar starts behaving normally, i.e. hiding until the mouse hovers over the bottom of the screen.

I can duplicate the problem by putting the pc in sleep mode and then waking it up and signing in again. If I immediately maximize a screen and hover the mouse up and down over the bottom edge of the screen, the Taskbar will work for a few seconds, then
it will disappear and not work until I toggle F11 or hit Win-T.

  3. how to effectively hide or disable the taskbar?

    Hi,

Did you try the “Auto-hide the taskbar” option from Taskbar properties?

If you have not tried it, I would suggest you to follow these steps and auto-hide the taskbar:

    • Right click on Taskbar.
    • Click on Properties
    • Check the box Auto-hide the taskbar.
    • Click on OK.

    Hope this information helps.

Windows 11 taskbar hides part of maximized windows

One Window hides another window When it is maximized and when it is clicked on taskbar it never shows it runs on the back of maximized window and never display untill maximized window is minimized

    Hi,

You might be experiencing this problem because the rendering layer priority of the maximized application is respected even when you switch focus to another program. Normally, when you maximize an application, it will hide or cover all other applications
until you switch to a different program. To help us identify the cause of this behavior, we would like to know the following information:

    • Do you only experience this issue with a particular program?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer before experiencing this issue?
    • Are you using multiple monitors?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, you might also be experiencing this issue because Windows Explorer (Explorer.exe) is not working correctly or not responding.
Windows Explorer is the process that provides the graphical interface such as the Start menu, taskbar, notification area, and File Explorer. To sort this issue, we suggest that you restart Windows Explorer. The easiest way is by restarting your computer.
If you do not want to restart your computer, you can also follow the steps below:

    • Hold Ctrl+Shift while right-clicking on an empty area of the taskbar.
    • On the modified context menu, select Exit Explorer. The Start menu and taskbar should disappear.
    • Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
    • Click More details on the bottom part of the window.
    • Click on the File menu, and select Run new task.
    • Type explorer.exe, and click OK.

Keep us updated on the status of the issue, and we will be glad to assist you further.
