Windows 10: Windows 11 - Taskbar icon to google chrome missing/replaced with a default app icon on a...

First I searched the forum.. see that this problem has been around since 2022. I've also tried all the "fixes" listed in these posts.I even reset the PC, from Windows Cloud so it's up to date as far as today. I cleaned the drive for this install. I checked for updates.Installed Google Chrome.Restarted.Now when I pin Google Chrome to the task bar the icon disappears and is replaced by a default app icon. If I unpin.. the correct icon reappears. So you can't pin Chrome unless you want a default app icon.This is like the 3rd issue on Win 10 I got going on. I have another post in here about my Win

The answer is given in comments: you need to change icons that are stored in chrome.dll using Resource Tuner (use Trial version) or Resource Hacker (free).

I've used IcoFX (Trial version) to generate various .ico icons.

Currently I'm running 4 separate instances of Google Chrome v37.0.2062.124. One instance is installed and three other instances of Google Chrome are portable, downloaded from:

Google Chrome Portable (web browser) | PortableApps.com

Here's how my Windows 7 Taskbar looks like when all 4 instances of Chrome are opened:

 

No outlook.com app shortcut icon in chrome

Uninstalling chrome make's the chrome Outlook.com app https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/hotmail checker i use, disappear from chrome as a shortcut next to the star button for bookmarks and the settings button where i have adblock and google chromecast icon

How do i get it back, i use windows 8.1 64 bit, extremly annoying that i can't get this icon,button back in chrome, please help me *Smile
