Windows 10: Windows 11: Taskbar icons randomly blank when switching virtual desktops while using dual...

The title is self-explanatory, here's a visual example in which w can see the first two icons are not showing:This issue has been reported many times by different people and has nothing to do with the video card, drivers or anything of the sort. It happens on many different configurations.If I switch back and forth between virtual desktops, sometimes they're gonna come back, sometimes not, and sometimes it's gonna do this:

This could be a known issue:

Temporarily disable taskbar animations to see if that resolves the issue.

If you have Windows 11 installed, you can access the Feedback Hub by searching for it in the Start menu. Within the app, search for relevant keywords to see if other users have submitted feedback about the taskbar icons disappearing when switching desktops. You can also submit your own feedback to raise awareness of the issue. This can help Microsoft prioritize fixing the problem.

If the problem is indeed a known issue, Microsoft should eventually release a patch or update to resolve it. Keep your Windows 11 installation up-to-date by checking for updates regularly via Settings > Windows Update.

Windows 11 taskbar icons disappear after switching desktop

⬇️ ️ Here is a workaround, until Microsoft finally decides to fix the issue! ️⬇️

The workaround is to install ExplorerPatcher.

This seems to fix the issue where icons disappear when switching virtual desktops in a multi-monitor environment.

Steps:

1. Download ExplorerPatcher and install it. This will restart Windows Explorer and change your taskbar to the Windows 10 one.
   
2. Once installed, open the start menu and launch Properties (ExplorerPatcher).
   
3. On the first settings tab Taskbar, change Taskbar style back to Windows 11 (or keep Windows 10 if you want ^^).
   

Voil ! After restarting the File Explorer, the icons should stop disappearing when switching virtual desktops!

In Windows 11's built-in virtual desktop feature, there is a high probability that icons of active applications on the current desktop may not be displayed when switching between different virtual desktops. The icons only appear when I click on the respective application. I have attempted to resolve the issue through restarts and using Sfc and Dism for repairs, but the problem persists. An essential configuration to note is that the taskbar is set to display windows only from the current desktop.
